Tom Henke

Tom Henke - Assistant Director

 

Mr. Henke serves as Director of Bands at CrossRoads Intermediate School in Lexington - Richland School District Five.  He has served in this position for the past 24 years.  Mr. Henke is also assistant director at Irmo Middle School, providing supportive instruction to wind and percussion students, in addition to being an assistant director at Dutch Fork High School instructing the Silver Spirit Drumline during the marching season.  He has also taught at Sandhills Middle School in Gaston, SC and Williston-Elko High School and Middle Schools in Williston, SC.

Mr. Henke holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education with a Performance Certificate in Percussion from the University of South Carolina, a Masters Degree in Education from Southern Wesleyan University, and has earned his Masters +30 teaching certification.  While at USC he performed with the Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Palmetto Pans Steel Band, USC Orchestra, and "The Mighty Sound of the Southeast" USC Marching Band.

 

Mr. Henke was a charter member and performer with the Palmetto Concert Band and the Lake Murray Symphony Orchestra.  Currently he performs in the percussion section with the Carolina Winds.  He is also a member of the South Carolina Music Educators Association, South Carolina Band Directors Association, Percussive Arts Society, and the Palmetto State Teachers Association.

 

Mr. Henke has been married to his wife and best friend, Jenny, for 27 years.  They have one daughter, Claire, who was just married this Spring.  Mr. Henke and his wife reside in Lexington with their 2 rescue dogs, Ivy and Wren.
