Trey Heaton - Low Brass Instructor

​

A native of Seneca, South Carolina, Trey Heaton is a trombonist and aspiring music educator studying Instrumental Music Education at the Hugh Hodgson School of Music at The University of Georgia.

 

At the University, Trey participates in many ensembles including the University of Georgia Wind Symphony, Trombone Choir, Redcoat Marching Band, African American Choral Ensemble, and the recently formed trombone ensemble Four-of-a-Kinda. Trey also serves as the president of the University of Georgia’s chapter of the National Association for Music Education. Outside of the university, Trey has been a long-time member in the Oconee Winds wind ensemble based out of Oconee County, South Carolina where he has occupied the principal chair for three years and serves on the Executive Board.

 

Trey's instructional background includes private and group instruction in trombone as well as the marching arts, specializing in the visual and brass captions. Trey is a regularly invited instructor at Winder-Barrow High School in Winder, Georgia. 

 

More recently, Trey was invited to attend the University of Texas at Austin's Art of Conducting and Rehearsing workshop in June of 2022, as well as advancing to the semi-final round of the S.E. Shires solo competition at the 2022 Southeast Trombone Symposium where he performed in June of 2022.
